and the update on the investigation there to the case. >> reporter: yeah. i checked in with the san jose police department spokesperson for the update on this case. they are still search for a second suspect or at least that's what was happening all this week as they released a sketch on that expect now hee mailed me back and said per the homicide unit we aren't confirming or denying any new information. that came after i asked them if an arrest had been made. >> the man was shot and killed last week. one of the suspects a 26-year- old was in court wednesday. police say he and another man robbed four businesses, murdered a 22-year-old in a carjacking and participated in a shoot out with two officers one of the officers was hit and taken to the hospital with minor injuries. willbanks was arrested the next morning. officers released a sketch of the second suspect, a 20,000- dollar reward is being offered for his arrest. the funeral for the victim is being held this morning at 11. we will continue to talk to police and ask them about updates on that second suspect and bring you new information on
. a small memorial is there for the san jose rest denied 22- year-old rory park petty ford. police have one person this custody. here's his picture. 26-year-old jonathan wilbanks was arrested on friday night. he was caught after a series of robberies, a police chase, shooting and carjacking attempt that left a man dead. here's a map that shows the path of this violent crime spree. wilbanks's alleged acome police got away but together they committed four robberies on friday at a little caesar's pizza on story road, gas station on east capital, a jack- in-the-box on curtner avenue and the spa on bird avenue. around 9:00 the pair tried to carjack 22-year-old rory in the seven eleven parking lot and shot him dead. police then spotted the car on highway 101 near interstate 280 and chased it through town. the suspects got out and opened fire on the officers. about >> about 9:00 i heard gunshots. >> saw the victim up in the front and in shock after finding out his father -- that his son had been shot in front of seven learn. >> reporter: police returned fire and hit wilbanks. one officer was treat
, one of the suspects in a violent strings of crime in san jose will go in front of the judge for the first time. jonathan wilbanks is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and robbery. now, he and another man are accused of four robberies, a deadly attempted carjacking and a shooting that injured a police officer friday night. now, the two of them were caught on surveillance video at a 7/11 store where a man was shot and killed by the suspect. a $20,000 reward is being offered for information for the man who is still out there on the loose. >>> people in palo alto are being warned about two different scams involving energy and water services. the first one involves someone claiming to be from a gas company they claim a product they are selling lowers your bill. the city says the scammers often mention pg&e. that's not palo alto's utility company. the other scam involves a fake water leak insurance company and that will offer insurance against high water bills, they claim. >>> sal, this is your day. i mean, it's gonna be a busy day. >> i was trying to look at the chp list

police say was murdered by two men on a crime spree in san jose. also today, we learn police have arrested the second person wanted in connection with that rampage. for a week, that person has been just this anonymous sketch. now he's a real living breathing suspect. but we can't tell you his name or show you his face. as anne makovec reports, the suspect is only 15 years old. >> reporter: 22-year-old rory park-pettiford, a former football player, and aspiring hip-hop artist, was remembered at a memorial service in campbell. >> he was a great kid, practical jocker. >> reporter: but many friends couldn't speak of him without breaking down, because they can't help but remember how he was killed, during a robbery attempt one week and one day ago. this is a surveillance photo of two robbers who police say tried to carjack park-pettiford in his car, then shot him when he tried to drive away. that's after a violent crime spree that started with four armed robberies within an hour on friday, november 16. this is how it ended for one suspect. 26-year-old jonathan wilbanks, captured after

its first and only sale of the year this weekend. cbs 5 consumerwatch reporter julie watts in san jose to tell us if the company's new marketing strategy is work. julie. >> reporter: well, first, it got rid of sales altogether, and is bucking black friday. it's offering a one-day long sale of the season. and some say today's turnout is proof j.c. penney customers want their sales. if you post them, they will come. sales signs, something j.c. penney customers haven't seen in a while and this black friday they say it's what brought them back. do you think that without the big sale you would have come in today? >> that's debatable. >> i come less now than i did before. >> reporter: early this year, j.c. penney ditched its nearly 600 sales in favor of everyday low prices. but even when it dropped those prices by 40%, 10% of their customers dropped j.c. penney. >> things are not on sale so there's no real incentive to come in. >> people have to have something to look forward to. >> reporter: so every day low prices aren't going to get you in the door. >> no. >> and she is not alone. while
. authorities say an off duty san jose police officer just happened to be near by and went to the crash scene to help. the chp has not released any information about injurys in the chp stepped up patrol this upcoming holiday weekend and made hundreds of drunk driving arrests. but as paul chambers reports, it wasn't just alcohol that proved to be dangerous. >> reporter: with thanksgiving in your rear-view mirror, patrols are out in effect. this car burned beyond recognition was involved in a high speed collision along interstate 80 and crockett. you can see parts of northbound 101 looked like a parking lot. just before 8:30 saturday night a woman was killed on the freeway stopping traffic for more than two hours. >> it's still under investigation at this time and that's one of those incidents where a pedestrian find themselves on the freeway, we don't know why. >> reporter: chp says in more than 50% of their vehicle related accidents people were not wearing seat belts. investigators say that appears to have been the case in palo alto accident that killed two sisters. four of the family members
